Spring Color Forecast......

OK not so fast. It doesn't look like Pantone has published their Spring 2011 Forecast yet!

DANG IT!!!!

Back in the early fall of 2010, I posted the newest color trends forecasted by Pantone, and I had such fun searching out everyday items that showed off each of the beautiful colors.

So now I am patiently (NOT SO MUCH) awaiting the Spring Forecast.

Waiting is not one of my strong suits but wait I must.

BUT GUESS WHAT????

Pantone has announced their color of the year and it is

Honeysuckle!!!!

Who knew there was even a color of the year?

But isn't it gorgeous???

Pantone describes this special color this way....

Energizing Honeysuckle lifts spirits and imparts confidence to meet life's on going challenges.

AGAIN, WHO KNEW????

I guess colors do affect our moods, set the tone for special occasions and encourage us to eat, to relax and so on.......

But that is a pretty tall order on this color of Honeysuckle don't you think?

I remember honeysuckle bushes from when I was a kid growing up in West Virginia. The wonderful smelling flowers, the sweet taste if you pulled the blossom and touched it on your tongue (don't tell me this is just a WV thing), but I remember honeysuckle being a white color with a little yellow thrown in for good measure.

But I will take it in pink too.

You have got to stop by the Pantone page for the color of the year to see all the great things they say about this new color.

The description begins with ....

A Color for All Seasons

Courageous. Confident. Vital. A brave new color, for a brave new world. Let the bold spirit of Honeysuckle infuse you, lift you and carry you through the year. It’s a color for every day – with nothing “everyday” about it.

Last years color of the year was Turqoise so I need to look at what Pantone said about that one. Since Turquoise and Pink are two of my FAVE colors (well really any shade with a little blue or a little pink in it turns me on), I would love a room where they were used together.

Until next time....

Love blue, love pink, love green! Honeysuckle...not so wild about :-). I think it's pretty as an accent where a little goes a long way, but seems a bit Pepto Bismolly for a whole couch, wall, window treatment. Admittedly though, I am Not, with a capitol N...Not a designer.

I was so excited to meet with a brand expert today to update my logo and "brand." I made sure to let her know why I loved the green (growth) and blue (trust) in my logo. Hope you are having a beautiful week. ~Blessings, Janet

I really love this color. I'd drape my entire home in it if I weren't married. :)

Oh, and the touching the honesuckle thingy to your tongue...not just a WV thing. I remember doing that when I was young, after plucking the WHITE honeysuckle off the vine.

I'm liking the color. It would be a great accent color. Funny thing is...I could smell honeysuckle while reading your post.

I've still got honeysuckle growing wild on some of the trees in my backyard, but I'll have to go out and have a little nip in the spring, it's been forever since I did that so nope, not just a WV thing although I'm in VA so we're not too far off!

I remember them being yellowish-white too, but wow, that pantone color is gorgeous! I remember working at a UV ink manufacturer and looking through the pantone booklets and finding all these amazing colors that most people never think about, it's sooo much fun!
